It was a morning in the winter of 2018 when we crossed paths. The location was South Laredo Family Clinic. The circumstances were that Caro had some papers that Mateo needed to sign for her work at Laredo Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mateo was immediately taken by her beautiful eyes. He was not able to focus on what Caro was instructing him to do and the reason why. And really, it did not matter what she was saying - he just did as she said.

Her eyes combined with her Salma-Hayek-like accent made her totally irresistible. His response.. “are those your real eyes?” She grabbed her papers, laughed and went about her way.

Circumstances in life put Caro in Mateo’s path again at a future date and this time Mateo took advantage of the opportunity and asked Caro out on a date. Initially, Caro did not believe Mateo that he was single. After some convincing,  Caro accepted the invitation and the rest is history. That was the beginning of this beautiful relationship.

After having worked, traveled, and otherwise shared the most amazing years of their lives with Caro, there was no doubt in Mateo's mind that it was time to pop the big question.
